Amadeus keeps international travel moving by partnering with six COVID-19 testing providers

Summer is just on the horizon and two years into the pandemic, people all over the world are itching to travel.In a recent Amadeus survey, 75% of travelers surveyed agree that they are eager to travel and hope to do so this year. In addition, 7 out of 10 travelers surveyed said they would be willing to share personal information and health data using digital health passports or certificates for international travel.

That’s why Amadeus is collaborating with key industry stakeholders to build a safe and secure travel environment, where every traveler has access to the technologies and information they need to enjoy a frictionless travel experience. We called this breakthrough initiative theSafe Travel Ecosystem.

How Amadeus is making travel safer

Our work started with creatingTraveler ID for Safe travel , which is helping travelers share their health documents with airlines prior to their trip. We also partnered with world-leading travel security and risk consultant,Riskline , to integrate specific COVID-19 related information into our booking solutions.

Today, we’re pleased to announce our latest development for safe travel: Amadeus is collaborating with six COVID-19 test providers worldwide to facilitate ongoing international travel. This arrangement will help travelers and travel sellers alike to purchase a COVID-19 test at the time of booking – something that was still required in more than 100 countries as of May 2022. The service is the latest effort we’ve made in our commitment to facilitate a safe and secure travel environment to bring peace of mind to travelers.

Collaboration is key when it comes to safe travel

Our six testing providers includeGrapevine andTestFrwd in Europe,Estoy Sano in Mexico,Viselio in Switzerland,PanaBIOS primarily in Africa, andTorkore worldwide.

To encourage safe travel Amadeus will promote our COVID-19 testing providers at several touchpoints of the journey: during the flight search in Amadeus Selling Platform Connect based on city codes matching the destination, on ourTravel Safety Companiontravel restriction page, and on travel documents with offers and booking confirmations.

Collaborating with new testing providers is just the latest in our efforts to create a complete circle of healthy travel for all parties involved in trip planning: travelers, travel sellers, and airlines.

Everyone will benefit from safe travel

For travelers, access to these providers at the time of booking will make it easier to find and book reliable COVID-19 tests when they need them. They can book an appointment at a local test center or receive a self-test kit at home for a proctored test, and securely receive their health documents in commonly used formats accepted by the industry.

Travel sellers will benefit from being able to provide additional trusted health services to their customers, to improve their satisfaction, and earn additional revenues.

Meanwhile, airlines will be able to increase the number of travelers accepted with Traveler ID for Safe Travel, as the health documents from these test centers are recognized and accepted by many carriers worldwide.

Over the last couple of years, Amadeus collaborated with key stakeholders both within and outside of the travel industry to help the industry adapt and remove friction from travel. With these new safety measures in place, we look forward to supporting travel sellers in their recovery process and helping travelers to enjoy exploring the world again.
